Are you getting “Pink Slimed”?

When people don’t understand what’s REAL they surrender to apathy and extremism.

The U.S. has lost almost a third of its newspapers since 2005, and vital content essential for maintaining an enlightened citizenry is increasingly hidden behind paywalls. Social media influencers monetizing their “brands” and billionaire special interests are filling this void.

Columbia University’s Tow Center has dubbed these massive operations “pink slime”– a product that resembles the real thing, but lacks nutritional value.

The largest is Metric Media, which is linked to Texas oil and gas billionaire Tim Dunn and receives millions in conservative PAC money. Metric touts more than 1,300 sites that publish over 5 million articles every month in most every state. The “community news” sites often advocate for Metric’s special interest funders.
